Would think they always did. You may be thinking of Very Ape which never had it as it was a british licensed label.

very ape which was released in boutiques across the uk had sleeve tags on some of its clothing where the ape head was facing the opposite way. these pieces were designed by the dude who brought bape n stussy to the uk

Yep it was licensed to Gimme 5 wasnt it?
I thought they only sold it in Bond in London and then when Hideout started to do Bape Very Ape stopped.

i think (could be wrong) that hit and run (now hideout) did bape first but when the very ape was released that was given to other smaller stores such as gimme 5. hip in Leeds got 4 pieces in! 2 tees in 2 colours. now thats limited edition!!! :D

Nope the other way round Bape started in Japan only, then Nigo licensed Very Ape to Gimme5 and then Hit and Run started stocking Bape and Very Ape finished.
Did you know it was when Nigo came over to interview James Lavelle for a magazine, that Michael Koppelman gave him a place to stay, because of this act of kindness MK got the connections he has now.

Totally when it was in Hit and Run you could just walk in and buy it and it didnt even sell that fast due to the price. They had original Target Tees, Credit Card Tees, Sunglasses, Jeans, Camo M65s and Manhunts. If only I earnt the money I do now by collection would be amazing.
The connections get even stranger though James Lavelle got the Major Force connection, when he worked in Honest Jons and Kudo came in, Kudo asked him what his favourite band were as Lavelle seemed to know about music. Lavelle said Major Force not knowing he was talking to one of the founder members, how strange is that.
