well i think they have been producing larger amounts per item in recent years then they used to, if they would stick to making very few, but dope items per season, they would be good.

Yeah this just means it's a sale. Definitely appreciated though, might be my first queue in a Bape line since the 2006 City Camo Bapestas.

This is bad news for the L.A. Pirate Store since most of the good stuff will probably be retained in Japan :(

US still is fiending for bape that is prolly why they wouldn't have any goodies. TPE pirate store even had NFS Black and Salmon PONR's. I'm surprised Bape has so many names to come up with even for something as simple as a sale.lol

No, that was another event that sold a lot of NFS stock in Taiwan. Think it was due to the fact that they were gonna launch NFS in TW as well so they always got the stock but the website never went up. Was last year at the same time as Bape for sale in Tokyo.

NO. HE IS NOT.

im sure he still has a lot of control as its his brand, and most of the money will line his pocket.

Nigo stepped down as the president of the company to focus on the creative side and the sideprojects. However, he is still the owner and I'm pretty sure all major decisions are still run by him first.

well dont forget some are stocks that are for sale which were factor rejects from past productions.

also this goes back to our discussion in the past, with more stores opening = increase in production of stock
lately with all these non-sense / lame designs from a lots of season.
my guess is that bape has so much crap load of old inventory

the extra product comes from brand control.

if a season doesn't sell you take it off the shelves to keep the perceived rarity up.
Everyone still thinks its hot. this is the name of the game with BAPE. Intense product control. There used to be an article up about how he (Nigo) would maintain meticulous control over all the Japan stores, NIGHTLY, checking and altering inventory. I'm sure an old head can link it or atleast remembers it.

Nigo has built the base.
Then he shit on it. (bad releases, gets the fakers away. FAPE is everywhere)
Now he can turn it into a label and sell simple items with a logo, and really bank. a.k.a. no more stupid advertising just quality branded stuff. (think polo's with the little bape head and all the understated stuff. domestic japanese branding. bape pencil pouches and toothbrushes.)

oh and P.S. if someone can hook up a camo towel. Beach size. i'ld cop. if someone sees one.

its the recession I guess...personally haven't been to bape in months, but I remember at the pirate store in nyc they had a ton of old shit. what else they gonna do with it? obviously never sold and storage costs $$ so may as well move it.

Funny in the bape ambush interview on hypebeast Nigo was saying that until now they destroyed stock they didn't sell. So what was good with all those skull-stas and city stas we had in the nyc pirate store mmmm??? There was some old shit in there.

blis

theres no way they actually destroyed old stock. i know for a fact that the ny store had tons of old shit in the basement because they would always be moving shit around. stupid because i would always see shit i wanted and they weren't allowed to sell it anymore.

I agree not a chance in hell they destroyed stock. Im amazed anyone would buy into that.

Was it hard to incorporate an outlet style “The Pirate Store” into A BATHING APE’s current retail framework? How does this affect A BATHING APE® as a brand?

NIGO®: Up until now, leftover pieces from each season were destroyed but this year, along with our new manager we decided to go into another direction and try to incorporate a parallel retail experience. We felt that we could do it in a way that fit the new scale that BAPE® has reached over the past few years and also work well given the current economical situation. We secured a couple of interesting locations to develop this concept into a Pirate’s stolen treasure that would offer our product to a different audience.
