Maybe the seller is just over charging, or maybe it used to belong to someone famous in Japan etc. You def right though pretty damn ugly for that price.

1-The movement is not produced anymore = makes it rare = makes it expensive (relatively speaking)
2-The movement used for this watch was also used by other famous manufacturers such as Omega, and is one of the most sought after movement, famous for its durability = adds credibility
3-It's a Bape collabo
Combined all 3 and that should explain why the price is ridiculous (even if I am not totally sure it's justified).
And yes, it looks fugly.

According to xe.com, it would be about $2,892.26 USD

I mean the "inside" of the watch, all the pieces inside the case. If I am right, the movement is a 5100 or 5200 from Lemania. Back in the days, the company had a lot of special orders from armed forces in Europe, especially for diver's watch and SWAT teams.

It says only a 100 pieces were made, so that too explains the price.

3 grand is not that much to pay for a watch with quality automatic movement, actually it's closer to the starter end of the spectrum. do you really think that the movement on bapexs are any better than any other rolex replicas?
jeff, the movement refers to how the mechanism to move the hands on the watch is implemented. these watches are not battery-powered, rather they convert the movements of your arms to power the watch. if your watch has a cheap movement, it could gain time (like a minute or two a day) or wear out quickly.

Co-sign on this one. If you are bying a Bapex, it's definitely for the look and not for the quality of the watch per-se.

If they use Lemania movements then at least there using a good swiss movement manufacturer.Lemania have been around for donkeys years and Bretling have used their movements especially their Chronographs which are top notch.
I try to tell people about watches that the name on the dial doesn't necessarily mean anything,it's what the movement is that counts.Hell even Rolex once used another watch manufacturer's movement in there watch i.e Zenith.

dude bapexes dont even come close to a rolex
like 0%
rolexes are amazing
not to mention the sapphire screen makes em invincible almost
ive wacked mine on metal corners like super hard and there wasnt even a scratch...
and by movement are u talking about how sum watches have the thing where the second hand takes exactally 1 min to go around without ticking?
like constant motion?
SlyS3

Constant motion (sweeping hand) are for mechanical watches, i.e. your wrist movement acts as a recharge and then a mechanism makes the watch "go round". Ticking hands are featured in quartz watches, more accurate but less impressive from a mechanical or engineering perspective.
The watch debate can go on and on as to what is best etc... :p

Nail on the head right there. You are paying for the design of a bapex, not the quality. Shame really cuz they could be fucking awesome watches if they just put a bit more effort into it.
